Salt spray test

Standardised tests have been developed to examine the resistance to corrosion in a short timeframe or to compare the resistance to corrosion for different materials or coatings. A well-known test is the salt spray test.

Components are continuously exposed to a NaCl-spray at 35°C. It allows a fast screening of pores, discontinuities and other faults in organic and anorganic coatings.
