The Belgian Welding Institute (BWI) has built a solid reputation in studying the physical structure and components of materials. Our laboratory has all the equipment necessary to prepare and analyse metallographic samples. A vast array of materials testing equipment enables the BWI to offer traditional characterisation as well as specialised testing.

          - The Belgian Welding Institute (BWI) has the equipment and expertise to perform a wide array of material characterisation tests. Generally, the welded or base material test specimen(s) will be tested until fracture occurs and the specific material properties can be obtained and verified.

-

          - It is not always cost-effective or possible to take samples from components that are still in use. In such cases, Belgian Welding Institute (BWI) can rely on non-destructive testing techniques (NDT) such as replica examination, magnetic and (dye) penetrant testing, and on site hardness measurements.

-

          - Belgian Welding Institute (BWI) has a well equiped lab to perform several standardised tests (ASTM, EN ISO or other).
As a standard test does not always represent the real in-service conditions, we will be happy to assist you in developing a test tailored to your application.
