With the emergence of the various European directives, including the PED (Pressure Equipment Directive) and the CPR (Construction Products Regulation), a quality system is more and more important, placing greater responsibility on the manufacturers.
One of the most important standards is the EN ISO 3834-series, describing the requirements for a quality system for fusion welding of metallic materials.
ISO 9001 considers welding as a "special" process. This standard refers to many other standards, who deal with the different aspects of welding, such as for example: qualification of welders, welding procedures, materials, ...
Expertise
Our involvement in the standardisation process ensures that our experts are among the first to know about any upcoming changes. This makes the BWI the ideal partner to support you with regards to your current and future standardisation needs.
Welding coordinators can count on company-specific advice en guidance form the BWI welding engineers that are qualified to work according to the main international welding standards. Most of them have been involved in guiding companies to certification. Their skills have often proven valuable in providing quick and efficient results.
To ensure the proper quality of your welded product, the standard ISO 3834 sets out requirements to ensure good practice of the welding operations. As such, a Procedure Qualification Record (PQR) applies and welders should be awarded a welders' certificate. The Belgian Welding Institue (BWI) has developed two welding tools (Dutch) that provide these quality documents in an instant.
